Finance Lead

Sunbound is seeking its first Finance Lead to join its team and build out its finance and analytics capabilities. The Finance Lead’s role will be to build out and manage FP&A, treasury and accounting functions along with providing support to the CEO on strategic initiatives. This is an early role at Sunbound, and will carry a lot of opportunities to work closely with the founders and shape company direction and culture. Ideal candidates will be opinionated about financial best practices and how best to implement different solutions.

Responsibilities

As Finance Lead, you will…

• Lead the regular financial reporting and forecast processes
• Manage an outsourced accounting firm through the monthly accounting close
• Manage the cash management and treasury functions on a daily basis
• Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations, accounting standards, and tax requirements. Stay current with industry best practices.
• Identify and mitigate financial risks. Implement effective internal controls to safeguard the company's assets.
• Conduct in-depth financial analysis to support decision-making. Evaluate investment opportunities, pricing strategies, and cost-saving initiatives.
• Work closely with the CEO on investor relations and capital markets activities
• Develop, enhance, and refine financial systems and procedures; aligning them with industry best practices while tailoring them to the company's distinct requirements.
• Lead by example in developing, motivating, recruiting, and retaining a highly effective finance team

Skills and Qualifications

• BA or BS; CFA and/or CPA certification a plus
• 6+ years total experience in a finance focused role with at least 2+ years experience in a venture capital backed startup
• Previous experience in a highly analytical, high caliber environment such as investment banking, private equity, management consulting, or a top-notch corporate finance team a plus
• Proficiency with SQL and Python/R a plus
• Clear communication verbally and in writing with non-technical stakeholders
